PDP TALKS TOUGH

• We’ll resist attempt to deny our candidates victory
Following agita¬tions for the disso¬lution of the Peo¬ples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) by certain chief¬tains of the party, the Adamu Mu’azu leader¬ship has alleged that All Progressives Congress (APC) is plotting to cause division in its ranks.
National Publicity Sec¬retary of PDP, Olisa Metuh, at th
e end of the party’s NWC meeting, told news-men that the call for the dissolution of the national working committee was part of the orchestrated plot to destabilise the party and continue to deplete its ranks.
He said the PDP NWC would meet with its ag¬grieved candidates next Tuesday, “to have a holis¬tic view of what really hap¬pened, to enable us take a final position on the 2015 general elections.”

The party also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the re-run governorship elec¬tions in Imo, Abia and Taraba states were con¬ducted in a free and trans¬parent manner
“The NWC is deter¬mined to firmly resist any attempt whatsoever to sub¬vert the will of the people or tamper with the process with the aim of denying our candidates their well-deserved victory at the polls.
“We, therefore, in the strongest possible terms call on INEC and security forces to ensure that the elections in the affected areas are free, fair and credible and that every effort must be made to re¬sist the intimidations and blackmails of clearly ob¬sessed APC with the aim of manipulating the pro¬cess in its favour,” Metuh said.
Pointing fingers at the APC, Metuh said those calling for the change of leadership at Wadata Plaza attributed the dismal per¬formance of the party to the alleged complacency of the Adamu Mu’azu-led leadership.
His words: “The APC has been holding meet¬ings with some elements within the party to hijack the party. While some of them have left, there are some within trying to cre¬ate crisis.”
He warned that the party’s national leadership would no longer tolerate criticism of its leadership on the pages of newspa¬pers.
Metuh said: “Party ad¬ministration is not done by rumours. Those who worked against the party, we won’t reply them. Some elements have been recruited by APC to run the party down.
“Those who run the af¬fairs of the party on the pages of newspapers, we won’t tolerate them again. We have resolved to instal proper party discipline.”
