The senator
representing Borno Central, Ahmed Zannah, has passed on at the age of 60.
He died in Abuja
on Saturday after years of battle with a terminal disease.
In a statement
announcing his death, Senate spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe said Senator
Zanna died in Abuja in the early hours of Saturday in Abuja.
Senator Zanna
represented Borno Central of Borno State in the Senate of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria.
Senate according
to Abaribe was shocked over the death Senator Zanna this time when the Senate
is about rounding off the 7th session.
Senator he said
would be remembered for his love of his state, particularly the people of Borno
Central senatorial district.
“The Senate will
surelly miss his painstaking approach to committee work and care for
legislative details in terms of bills and motions

recalled that the 7th Senate had lost four senators prior to Senator Zanna’s
death, senators Datong, Pius Ewheriodo, Awaisu Kuta and Uche Chukwumerije

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has expressed deep
sadness over the death of Senator Zannah.
Senator
Ekweremadu, who was attending the 74th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council
of Ministers in Accra, Ghana when news of the sad event broke, said Senator
Zannah’s death was a sad loss not only to the Senate, but also the nation.
The Deputy
President of the Senate said: “Senator Zannah’s death, coming on the heels of
the recent death of late Senator Uche Chukwumerije is, indeed, a double blow to
the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was a dedicated Senator who
made his constituents and the entire nation the centerpiece of his legislative
odyssey. He will be remembered for his patriotism, forthrightness, experience,
and legislative excellence”.
Senator Ekweremadu
prayed God to grant the Senate, the good people of Borno State, and indeed the
nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
