FAYOSE: BUHARI NOT INVOLVED IN PLANS TO OUST ME

Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, has exonerated President Muhammadu Buhari in the attempt of lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the fourth assembly of the state parliament to oust him from office. Speaking on Friday during the inauguration of the fifth assembly, Fayose described the development as a distraction, saying he was able to survive the plot through the support of the people. “God did not allow them to prevail. They don’t know that they are making me popular,” he said. “The more you write about me, you are making me popular. People notice it that every day, they were writing inside the paper, every day they will put it in front page of [the papers]. Fayose went, went for what? Every time attacking; the Lord has made me a light in the midst of darkness. “Let me tell you that this is not about me, it is about you. You put me here and if you cannot remove God, you cannot remove me. Before you can remove me, you must remove God. “I am your boy boy in Ekiti state; what is the meaning of governor? A governor that cannot help his people, what is the meaning of a governor that is not popular, that cannot go to the market place? I am a local politician.

APC LOSES BID TO SACK FAYOSE AT SUPREME COURT

ABUJA – The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal that was lodged against Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State by the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In their unanimous judgement this morning, a seven-man panel of Justices of the apex court led by Justice John Fabiyi, held that the appeal which challenged Fayose’s election victory, lacked merit.
The panel maintained that the APC failed to prove its allegation that the election w
as fraught with unparalleled irregularities, adding that the allegation that Fayose tendered forged Higher National Diploma Certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was not proved beyond every reasonable doubt.
While upholding the concurrent judgements of both the Ekiti State Governorship Tribunal and the Court of Appeal which had earlier affirmed Fayose’s victory, the apex court, further stressed that the respondent (Fayose) was not validly impeached in 2006.

He said: “Nigerians must ask Buhari, Tinubu and other APC leaders, who led street protest against Jega, carrying placards with inscriptions such as ‘INEC not fit to conduct 2015 election’, ‘2015: No hope with Jega,’ what has changed about Jega’s credibility. “Has the same Jega that they said cannot conduct the 2015 elections ceased from being a bad person? APC lost the Anambra election and took to the streets in Abuja, calling for Jega’s head. Is the INEC boss now doing their biddings because the APC will only stand against any individual or organisation that refused to be corrupted? “No doubt, the hullaballoo of the APC and its agents concerning Jega’s position is suspect.”
