• It's a lie - Peter Obi
ONITSHA—Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, yesterday, said the transfer of Boko Haram prisoners to Ekwulobia prisons in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, was concluded in 2012 under former President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
The governor, who spoke through his Senior Special adviser on Political Matters, Mr. Chinedu Obidigwe, said the decision was taken during a seminar organized for officers and men of the Nigeria Prison Service, NPS, in which Ekwulobia and Kuje prisons in Anambra and Abuja capital territory respectively, were chosen as prisons for the Boko Haram inmates.
But former Governor Peter Obi, in a swift reaction, expressed shock about Governor Willie Obiano’s claims, describing it as a blatant lie.

PLANNED RELOCATION OF BOKO HARAM CONVICTS TO ANAMBRA PRISONS; OBIANO SPEAKS
The attention of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has been drawn to the mischievous speculations on the social media that the planned relocation of some Boko Haram convicts to some prisons in Anambra State was done with his tacit approval and endorsement. I wish to categorically dismiss these speculations, hearsay and beer parlour banters as fundamentally untrue and should be disregarded by Nigerians.
Hard Facts
The fact is that when governor Obiano got wind of the planned relocation of these high risk prisoners to Anambra State, he quickly swung into action and contacted the relevant authorities to seek clarifications on the matter after which he raised several objections to the plan.Among Governor Obiano’s many objections are -

HELP IGBOS, DON’T LOOK AT PARTY, OBIANO BEGS BUHARI
The governor of Anambra State, Willy Obiano, has appealed to the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to help address the problems affecting the South East, and to appoint its people into key positions regardless of their political affiliations.
Mr. Obiano said the region will support the government of Mr. Buhari, despite the outcome of the March 28 election which saw him and his All Progressives Congress, APC, losing in the South East.
Mr. Obiano made the appeal Friday when he visited Mr. Buhari at his residence in Abuja.
The governor said he believed Mr. Buhari would not limit his search to APC members whenever he gives out appointments.
“I suspect that the President is not going to give appointment to only people from his party because everybody would support him and so he has to consider people from the other parties so that we can all embrace the change,” he said after a brief meeting with Mr. Buhari.

OBIANO TO HIS EXCO MEMBERS: YOU MUST BE ICT COMPLIANT
AWKA — Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, yesterday, directed members of the state executive council, comprising commissioners and special advisers, to ensure that they were ICT compliant to enable them keep with the pace of his administration.
The directive was part of the decision at the first executive council meeting held at Government House, Awka.
It was gathered that all the political appointees would participate in a two-day retreat aimed at shaping them up for the task ahead.
Meanwhile, it was all smiles as the exco members took delivery of their brand new Ford cars immediately after they rose from the meeting.

Anambra State Chief Judge Justice Peter Umeadi has said there was no court order stopping him from swearing in Governor Willie Obiano and his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke, as being alleged.
A statement yesterday in Awka, signed by Chief Registrar Nkechinyelu Doris Ezeani said the court saw the relief by the plaintiff, but did not pronounce on it.

The statement reads: “Knowing the chief judge, he will not evade the service of any court process. He will allow access even where it is to be served on him.
