The
Bayelsa state government has announced plans to immortalise former military
dictator, Sani Abacha. The late General had created Bayelsa state in October
1996, and the state will build a 150-duplex estate in his honour.
Seriake
Dickson, the state governor, announced the decision in his broadcast earlier
today, which coincided with the 16th anniversary of the creation of the State.
According
to Governor Dickson, government in partnership with the Ijaw National Congress
(INC), has christened the main auditorium of the INC secretariat after General
Abacha and will invite the family of the late General to be part of the
celebration. A tree will be planted in his honour.
Also to
be honoured, is the first civilian Governor of the State, Diepreye
Alamieyeseigha for his commitment to the Ijaw struggle. A hall will be named
after him in the INC building which was started by him.
The
governor also paid tributes to those he described as worthy Nigerian leaders
like former President Olusegun Obasanjo and late President Umaru Yar’Adua whose
actions "impacted positively on Bayelsans".

Isn't it obvious that Dickson came into power without any concrete plans or agenda, first was the "Permanent secretary" issue and now this?
ReplyDeleteOne day in the nearest future I know, and believe that the right leaders would definately emerge in this country. A great amen to that!
