Few sympathizers turned up Friday
for the burial of 24-year-old Miss Cynthia Udoka Osokogu who was murdered by
internet fraudsters in Lagos recently.
This time, her remains arrived the
family’s house in Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta
State as scheduled and were finally committed to mother earth.
The corpse arrived the final resting
place at about 3pm in a Toyota ambulance with registration number Lagos LY 616
EKY while the ceremony leading to her burial lasted about 25 minutes. Rev. Fr.
Leonard Biachi, parish priest, St. Dominic Catholic Church, Boji-Boji Owa
performed the graveside prayers before the corpse was lowered into the grave.
Major General Frank Osokogu (rtd.),
father of the deceased, in an emotion-laden voice told journalists, “what you
cannot help, you endure, you confront it. It is a difficult vacuum to fill if
you can even fill a vacuum, but life goes on.”
He said the family was impressed
with the reaction of the security forces especially the police since the incident
occurred and thanked the press generally for the role it has played so.
