Man Docked For Allegedly Being In Possession Of Fake Dollars

An unemployed man, Bode James, 29, was on Wednesday arraigned for allegedly being in possession of fake 9,750 dollars (N1,462,500).
James, who is of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of being in possession of fake dollars and dangerous charms before an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Soji Ojaopomo told the court that James was arrested with 195 pieces of fake 50 dollars without lawful authority.
He said that the accused was also found in possession of some dangerous charms with intent to use it to commit crime.
The prosecutor said that the accused was arrested with the fake dollars and charms on Sept. 12 at about 4 p.m. at Layinka Road, Amukoko, Apapa in Lagos, during a police stop and search exercise.
Ojaopomo said that the offences contravened Sections 133 (b) and 370 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos, 2011.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja granted James bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum.
She said that the surety should show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government as part of the bail condition.
Adelaja adjourned further hearing in the case to Oct.15.
