ANOTHER
tragedy struck on Tuesday morning in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when a
middle-aged man, identified as Goodluck Amehule, allegedly committed suicide by
jumping from the eighth floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex on Aba Road.
Though no
one could ascertain what prompted Amehule to his action, an eyewitness,
Florence Harry, said it happened at about 8.30 a.m.
According
to her, the deceased removed his shoes, jumped off and died instantly.
It was
further gathered that by the time officials of the University of Port Harcourt
Teaching Hospital annex within the secretariat complex arrived at the scene, he
had died.
There was
not much of identification found on his corpse than a Total E and P identity
card.
When
contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ben Ugwuegbulam, said
“let us be careful about coming to conclusions when we are not certain about
what really happened.
“We are
investigating the matter already and I cannot tell you yet that it was a
suicide.”
The
corpse had been deposited at the Military Hospital, Port Harcourt.
