Okonjo-Iweala ranked world’s 81st most powerful woman


AMERICAN business magazine, Forbes, has listed Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, in its recent ‘Most Powerful Women in 2012‘ list.
Only three Africans made the list: Malawian president, Joyce Banda, who comes in at 61st place, Okonjo-Iweala at 81 and Liberian president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who follows closely at 82. Okonjo-Iweala, 58, is serving a second time in the Ministry of Finance. From 2003 to 2006, she served Nigeria under the administration of former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
Other popular celebrity-figures that made the list include US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, who was ranked second; US First Lady, Michelle Obama, who was ranked seventh; Pop star Lady Gaga, 14th; Queen Elizabeth II, 26th; R&B diva Beyonce, 32; Jennifer Lopez, 38th; Shakira, 40th, to mention a few.
