JONATHAN APPEASES GOVERNORS WITH $1BN

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the distribution of $1billion from the Excess Crude Account among the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to enable them execute crucial projects in their respective domains.
The Chairman Governor’s Forum Rotimi Amaechi, told State House correspondents at the end of the 45th National Economic Council (NEC) meeting yesterday that the approval was announced by the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Yerima Ngama.
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, had said it will seek a final constitutional interpretation of all matters relating to the Excess Crude Account controversy between the federal and state governments.
The forum’s Chairman and Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, said on Tuesday in Abuja that the body would seek “a final resolution from the Supreme Court” on all matters relating to the controversy.
Mr. Amaechi said this was because the NGF had been dissatisfied with the “present attitude of the Federal Government on the Excess Crude Account’’.
