As
the Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) looks inward to
search for credible successor for Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), Daily
Sun checks revealed that the party’s search has extended to include who becomes
the deputy governor in 2015.
Since it has become a tradition in Lagos State to have female
deputy governor, Daily Sun can authoritatively reveal that three topmost female
politicians are currently on the ACN list. The three would-be deputy governor
on the list, for now, are the incumbent, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, a
current member of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and the
Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Chief Oluremi Tinubu.
Daily Sun, however, gathered from a party chieftain that
“though, all of them are eminently qualified to become governor let alone
deputy governor, the axis that produced the next governor would decide who
would be favoured to occupy the office.”
Presently, the three names penciled down for deputy governor’s
office scattered across the three senatorial district of the state. While the
sitting deputy governor is from the West, both Tinubu and Dabiri-Erewa are from
the Central and East, respectively. Aspirants being touted for governor also
cut across the three senatorial districts.
For instance, a fair complexioned serving senator, who was
believed to be nursing governorship aspiration is from the East, a former
commissioner, who served for about 12 years and who is now a national officer
of the party as well as the most experienced senator in Lagos are from the West
while Central may not be considered because the outgoing governor, Fashola is
from the Central.
Although mum is the rule from the camps of the aspirants, Daily
Sun can report authoritatively that the three women on the list are secretly
making serious consultations and lobbying as well as going spiritual so that
they would be the choice of the party at the end of the day.
