In
reaction to Friday’s ruling of an Abuja High Court that President Goodluck
Jonathan can contest in 2015, the Northern socio-cultural group, Arewa
Consultative Forum (ACF), has said it is not over yet. ACF said the ruling of
the High Court was not an automatic ticket for the President to contest yet,
until the apex court in the country says so.
The
forum in its reaction through its spokesman, Mr. Anthony N.Z. Sani, in Kaduna
yesterday said the litigants would not rest until they ensure the court
processes are exhausted. According to Sani, “you should know that the ruling is
not the end of the court process.
Don’t
you know the litigant will make sure they exhaust the court processes as laid
down by the law? “You would recall it was the Supreme Court, which ruled that
the periods served by the six governors before their re-runs must count. Left
to the High Court and Appeal Court, such periods should not count, and those
governors who had re-runs should serve more than the maximum eight years. “So,
let us wait until the court processes are exhausted before you ask for ACF
reactions on the court judgment that President Jonathan is eligible to contest
in 2015,” ACF spokesman stated.
