APGA DUMPS OJUKWU, ADOPTS ZIK’S PHILOSOPHY

The ALL Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) yesterday elected Chief Maxi Okwu as its National Chairman, alongside 27 other national Executive members.

Swiftly after his emergence, Okwu said the new APGA under his leadership would adopt what he called the non-extremist philosophy of the Late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe.

He said, “the political reality in Nigeria does not favour extremism”.
Asked whether that would not be a contradiction to the Late Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s ideology, he said the reality of the time must be faced, stressing that however that would not mean outright dumping of Ojukwu seeming extremist stance in matters concerning Ndigbo.

Hear him, “Zik was known for not blowing too hot on political issues. He was not an extremist and that philosophy will guide APGA henceforth.”

Okwu in the convention defeated Joe Martins Uzodike, the commissioner for information in Anambra State by 764 against 91

Speaking on the occasion, the Aanmbra State Governor, Peter Obi, described the convention as a new beginning for APGA

He commended the orderliness with which the party’s congresses and convention were conducted, adding that in the next couple of months APGA would be formidable nation-wide

He called for reconciliation of aggrieved members, stressing that the political travails APGA Government passed through in the past eight years in the state and is still waxing strong showed that God had entranced the party in the state
