The Office of the National
Security Adviser (NSA), yesterday, summoned the Rivers State Commissioner for
Information and Communications, Mrs. IbimSeminatari to Abuja to explain why she
provided details of recently purchased securityhelicopters to the public.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the office of the NSA, through its
Special Investigations Unit, ordered Seminatari to appear before it by noon on
Thursday.
When reached to confirm the news of her invitation by the NSA,
the commissioner affirmed the report, but said she was yet to know why she had
been invited.
However, sources told LEADERSHIP that the invitation might not
be a friendly call, but one meant to put her through the grill for daringto
divulge details of the transactions surrounding the purchase of the twosecurity
helicopters recently procured by the state government.
A news media (not LEADERSHIP) had last week published
reports indicating that the Rivers State Governor, ChibuikeAmaechi, had
procured four aircraftsin preparation for 2015 elections.
But Semenitari told journalists at a press briefing in Port
Harcourt last Monday that the state indeed bought two security helicopters, and
added that the other part of the story, which indicated four aircrafts for 2015
elections was pure falsehood targeted at smearing the personality of the state
governor.
