DAY MY DRESS ALMOST DROPPED ON STAGE - TIWA SAVAGE

Without doubt she is one of the hottest female Nigerian artiste, who has been making waves in the Nigerian music scene. She is so adored by Nigerian musicians that many rated her as the best for the last decade. TY Savage as she is fondly called is hot
Though born in Lagos, Nigeria, she was brought up in the UK, where she cut her teeth in the entertainment industry. Now back in Nigeria, she will be the new host of Idol Nigeria.
The beautiful and sexy artiste bared her mind in this interview with AJIBADE ALABI Excerpts:
HOW did you come into music?
Actually it started when I was in high school. You know that I got into music accidentally, I have a crush on one guy, and the guy was into music, he insisted I have to be interested in what he was interested in, so he discovered the talent in me. He told me I have a very good voiceYou only had been in the scene for some months, and you already achieved a lot of success. How did you do it?

I think first and foremost, is God. I thank God for the blessing of my life. I also have a very great team and amazing combative artiste manager, who does a lot of things for me, a very good team. I also have a good PR; she has made me to appear in many, many international magazines. In all I think I have a very, very united team. So I think the success I recorded so far is not all about me, but the individual contribution of every one in my team, so is not a Savage thing.

Many people might not know this, but I do, you are a song writer, and you are  connected with so-publishing, how did you do this? And who haveyou written song for so far?
I am actually a presenter with - Sonny E.T.V to be precise as a song writer like you said. I have once written song for people like written songs for artistes like, baby face, Monical, Mayer featuring, Cathy line featuring Akon, and one of the albums I actually worked with was nominated for Grammy Award.

Tell me five things about yourself
I am a co-presenter on Nigeria idol, I cook very well, I don't like shopping, and I don't like make up really. And let me see the last thing, I love been at home, but with the nature of my job, I got to go out, I ve got to go out to clubs, you know

What is your take on Nigeria music industry?
I think its amazing , honestly considering the limited resources we have, infrastructure and things like that, and we are still able to produce quality video music and our artistes are actually talented, I think its growing, very, very fast rate. My only worry is if we can keep on the level rate its growing I mean how quick is growing.

And another thing is we can really tackle and get rid of pirates so that our artistes can get well paid like they should. I love Nigeria entertainment. Back in those days when I used to come home, whenever we got to club, you will be hearing 80% Yankee music, 20% Nigeria music, but now completely is the opposite. So which means people like Nigeria music, the people want Nigeria music, and that means Nigeria musicians are doing a nice job

Do you have a mentor or idol, internationally, or locally?
Anybody who knows me really, really well, knows that when I wake up early morning, Brandy. Brandy is my ultimate; you know I discovered something about her voice, I studied her voice very well, that I sound like her in my record. She is amazing to me. But I also like people like Beyance, I also love people like Shakakarm. In Nigeria I have to give it to Tu Face, I think he is a legend, definitely Don Jazz, he always advised me while I was growing up, so I have to give it to them. BankyW, I love Weird M, C, the list goes on, and they all inspired me

You are the most sought after female artiste in Nigeria right now, how do you manage your new status?
I don't know if am the most sought after female artiste in Nigeria, I thinkwe all have our place definitely. But For me, it is not easy to be in the public eye. You know everything you do is scrutinized , because everything you do is always in the news, your hair style, earrings, even make up, your clothes, how you walk on the red carpet, how you performed, you know someone saw you at shop rite. So it is not all about my music any more, it is not when I go on stage, people are watching my every move, so I thank God, because I really have the great support of my family, my crew are also like my family now. So they all support me to reach where I am now.

How do you react to crisis andrumors?
I think the only time I get concerned and worried when they attack people who get close to me, when my family name is mentioned or my manager, honestly those people don't deserve or ask to be in public eye. But one thing I know is that I can go crazy. I also want people to know that we artistes are human too; some comments do get to us, but I tried not to take it too personal.

One common misconception People have about you?
They think I am beefier which, is not true about my personal self, it is far from the case. When I am on stage, when I am performing or when I am singing, I always enjoy the glamor, apart from that I am a very quiet person, I can t say I am shy; I am just cool and humble and humble. And people do not really know about. People who don't know always think I am beefier

Any embarrassing moment on or off the stage?
Yes, that happened during my very first performance in Nigeria when I was to perform with Tuface in Eko Hotel, and the front zip of my front clothes pulled down when I was walking on the stage. And I knew no one then, so at the back stage we have Banky, MI, Tu face and some other artistes , and I turned around and they were all looking at me, I was oh! My God! I was so embarrassed. I have to run back off the stage, but they all encouraged me, they were all saying, no, no, you can still perform, you can still do it, so I got another dress.

Is Tiwa Savage Single in a relationship?
I'm single and in a relationship.

You have a host of dedicated fans, how do you handle them? And has any of them taken extreme measures to get your attention?
I handle them with all respect they deserved; because those fans without them we artistes are nothing. But there I have this fan following me to different three shows. I saw him in Abuja; I was so touched, seeing him following me to different shows across the country.

You are a fashion star, what describesyour style?
I think fashion is really, really unpredictable, some times you might be in long gown, and sometimes you might be in short gown. I think like any thing in life, change is constant, fashion changes, music changes people changes also. I usually wear what my mood says on a particular day, and I think a fashion is a really extension of your personality of whom you are.

Last words foryour fans
My gratitude to them, and people have followed my journey, I had a dream and people have followed my dream, take my song to their respective homes, it is highly emotional to know how people love and accepted my song. I wanna say a big thank you to them, I wanna thank them. They should continue to support me.

Is it True Mohits is trying to sign you over to their music Label?
Like I said earlier am close to the Don Jazz and other members of Mohits group, that rumour is not correct, its not true. They are like a family supporting my career.

What about your relationship with Don Jazz?
My relationship with Don Jazz is purely like business stuff. He is someone who is interested in my music career, just like a family friend.
