A man in Maiduguri yesterday told the operatives of the
Joint Task Force (JTF) to kill his son over his alleged involvement in Boko
Haram activities.
Sources close to the family said the son had
once threatened to kill his father before he fled home, but returned recently
to seek refuge in the family’s compound.
Irked by the return of his son, the man, who is in his 60s, approached the Sector commander of the JTF in the area where his house is located and told him to apprehend the son. The father said the son has killed many people and should be killed too.
The family sources told Weekly Trust that the young man had confessed to
committing various offences but attempted to flee when soldiers demanded to
take him for further interrogation.Irked by the return of his son, the man, who is in his 60s, approached the Sector commander of the JTF in the area where his house is located and told him to apprehend the son. The father said the son has killed many people and should be killed too.
“He was shot dead when he attempted to run away. The father was not perturbed by what befell his son. The mother, however, is still crying and forced her elder children to organize burial for the deceased,” another family source said.
There was no immediate confirmation by the JTF.
