FATI, FORMER FIRST LADY, NOW NIGER CHIEF JUDGE



Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger state has sworn in Justice Fati Abubakar as the Chief Judge of the state, the first female to occupy such position since the state was created in 1976.
The new chief Judge who is also a wife to the former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar was sworn in yesterday at a ceremony at Government House, Minna.
Speaking at the ceremony, governor Aliyu described the former first lady as a pride to the state, the nation and to womanhood, therefore charged her to bring her wealth of experience to bear in repositioning the state judiciary.
The governor lamented the delay in the adjudication of justice and that called on the Chief Judge to use her good office for quick dispensation of justice in the state, saying his administration will support her in the provision of welfare to judicial workers, renovation of courts, equipping of libraries and provision of vehicles to enhance the performance of judiciary in the state.
