BAN NEW CARS’ IMPORTATION, PAN BEGS FG

The new management team of the Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited, PAN, has called on the Federal Government to ban the importation of new cars into the country.
The Managing Director/ Chief Executive
Officer of PAN, Mr. Ibrahim Boyi, made the call yesterday when he led other management staff on a visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kaduna State Council Secretariat.
Boyi said for that automobile industry to succeed, government must take proactive measures that would protect local industries.
He regretted that in the past, PAN had over 4,000 employees in its payroll but that today the situation was so bad that the company was struggling with 250 staff.
The MD, however, said that with the takeover of the company by Asset Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, there was going to be a turnaround of activities that would make the company to return to its past glory.
