JONATHAN APPOINTS AHMADU ALI, ADENIRAN, OTHERS TO GOVERNING BOARDS

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has approved the composition and appointments of the Chairmen and members of the Governing Boards of 20 Federal Government Parastatals and Agencies.
According to a statement conveying the appointment in Abuja on Monday, by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmadu Ali has been appointed as the Chairman of Governing Board of National Universities Commission (NUC).

President Jonathan has also appointed the former Minister of Education, Professor Tunde Adeniran as the Chairman Governing Board of West African Examination Council (WAEC). While WAEC has Adeniran as Chairman other members include Igwe Cyprian Ije, Mrs Ebun Ilorin Jegede and Hon. Uchenna Orji.
SGF said membership of each governing board shall include all the institutional members in accordance with the enabling law of the parastatal/agency.
According to him, the dates for the formal inauguration of the governing boards will be announced in due course by the supervising authorities and ministers.
The statement said the chairmen and non ex-officio members of the governing boards are as follows; while Dr. Ahmadu Ali is the Chairman Governing Board of National Universities Commission, Dr. Mohammed Salisu Mijinyawa, Arc. Adamu Jumba, Engr. John Ayere, Barrister Chris Ekwomadu and Ambassador Godson Echegile.
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi has Maj. General Barau Said [rtd] as Chairman with Chidi Ovunda Amadi, Alhaji Tanko Yusuf, Dr. Emmanuel Anteyi as members.
The National Ear Hospital, Kaduna has Dr (Mrs) Abisola Clark as Chairman with Chukwuka Daniel Nwokolo, Barrister Mathias Eze, Dr. Charles Anokwa, and Mustapha Aliyu Ibrahim as members.
The statement also indicated that National Obstetrics Fistula Centre, Abakaliki, has Mrs. Josephine Elechi as Chairman with Yeye Bola Dare, Nze Imo Umunna, Paul Obanuwa and Mr. Diamaro Patrice Ayaebi as members.
The National Open University of Nigeria has Senator Ameh Ebute as Chairman with Prof Godwin Soglo, Dr. Usman Matazu , Hon Chudi Offodile, Alhaji Ibrahim Isa Kaita, Dr. Ahaziah Umana, Mr. Funsho Owoyemi, Mr. Peter Aboyeji Onyiloye, Mrs. Lilian Nwankwo, Dr. Ojong Achigbe, Senator Babale Maikarfi, Senator Bright Nwanne, Moshood A. Salvador , Prof S.O. Igwe , and Dr. Kachi Ononuju as members.
Also, National Board for Technical Education has Mrs. Yejide Ogundipo as Chairman with Hamidu Mamuda, Hon. John Tor-Akume, Mrs. Angela Ajala, and Barrister Oscar Onwudiwe as members.
Federal Polytechnic, Bali, Niger State has Col. Theophilus Bamigboye (Rtd) as Chairman, while Abubakar Gambo Adamu, Aminu Mohammed Ashiru, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu Member, Chief Daniel Yusman Ogwola, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, and Christohper Ornijie were appointed as members.
Federal Polytechnic, Birnin - Kebbi has Adamu Maina Waziri as Chairman with Razak Gbadegesi, Hajia Maria Umar Waziri, Abasiubong Okoko, Sir Ambrose Ejiogu, Muzakkiru Sidi Bawa and Chief Fred Kpakol as members.
Federal Polytechnic, Bali, Taraba State has Pastor Yusuf Alfa as Chairman with Hon. Nuhu Bobbo Gurin, Shuaibu Garba Farinruwa, Mohammed Babangida Wambai, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, Chief Vero Tangbowei and Arc. Inno Agbo as members.
Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure has Senator Onyema Amadi Okoroafor as Chairman with Hon. Zailani Mohammed, Hon. Benjamin Sylvanus Obayi, Arc. Mohammed Isa Umar, Hon. Joseph Oforkansi , Mr. Tanimu Adamson and A T Ahmed as members.
Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State has Dr. Christian Azubuike Odukwe as Chairman with Mrs. Blessing Ijebuonwu, Mr. Anthony Odiadi Nyemike, Tanko Isyaku Gwamna, Mrs Patricia Aina, Mr. Tsho Usani and Ahmed Sulieman Leda as members.
Others are: Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa State, which has Mr. Bekeakpo Etifa as Chairman, Tijjani Uba Abdullahi, Ashiru Abdullahi Bomo, Major -General Olakunle Akiinyemi [rtd], John Ezievuo and Chief Dick Bekeme as members.
Federal College of Education (Tech) Gusau has Hon Bala Bawa Ka’oje as Chairman with Dalhatu Ibrahim Demeji, M. Ashiekh Umara, and Hon. V. Olumide Bamidele as members.
National Broadcasting Commission has Dr. Herbert Orji as Chairman, while Hon. Kabiru Umar, Hon. Mike Iheanetu, Yakubu Busa Buji, Hon. Ebenezer O. Ayorinde, Isa Badamsi Dahiru, Dennis Sami and Jude Nnorum, SAN are members.
The Nigerian Press Council has Chief Yinka Akintola as Chairman with Chief Ferdinand Uzodinm, Mr. Chidi Abaribe, Hon. Alfred Sunday Bello, Ibrahim M. Boyi as members.
Also the Nigerian Centre for Metallurgical Development has Hon. John Ikemefuna as Chairman; Segun Osifo Akpata, Salisu Bagudu, Ibrahim Lolo, and Chief Sam Iwuchukwu as members.
The Teacher’s Registration Council has Prof Greg Iwu as the Chairman while the National Council for Arts and Culture has Professor Nelson Branbayefa as Chairman with Alhaji Saidu Gwadabe, Emma Okafor and Nneka Igwe as members.
The National Centre for Women Development has Dr. Mrs Becky Ketebu-Igwe as Chairman, Hajia Meiro Momoh , Hajia Binta Kuraye, Hajiya Zulai Bello , Ms. Alice Ochai, and Sulieman Lawal Jarman Kaur as members.
Meanwhile, President Jonathan has approved the re-appointment of Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu as Director and Chief Executive of The National Teachers Institute Kaduna (NTI) with effect from the 1st of February, 2013.
Also re-appointed are: Engr. Habu A. Gumel as Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the National Lottery Trust Fund for a second and final tenure of four years, with effect from the 1st of December, 2013 and Mrs. Taiwo Theresa Akande as the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti for a second and final tenure of four years , with effect from the 19th of December, 2013.
