UDUAGHAN BERATES DELTA CP’S COMMENT ON ABDUCTED DELSU LECTURER

For saying the Nigerian Police were not magicians in unravelling the whereabouts of abducted Dr (Mrs) Mercy Mokobia, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, has berated the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Aduba.
The governor took a swipe at the police boss Tuesday evening, at a radio and television “Ask the Govrenor Uduaghan” programme at the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), in Warri, Delta State.
Dr (Mrs) Mokobia, a lecturer in the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, was yanked off his husband’s bosom in their bedroom on April 9 in Abraka, but has not been found or rescued by the police since then ,despite mouthed efforts being made by the police.
The CP had, in a brief chat with Nigerian Tribune in Government House Annex, Warri, a few months ago, when asked why the police had found the rescue of the amiable mother and wife a hard nut to crack, responded that there was nothing more the police could do since they were not magicians.

He said that although the police had some of the suspects connected to the crime in their kitties, they hoodlums had refused to confess where the woman, is in spite of all efforts being made by the police to make them speak.
“We have tried our best my brother. What do they want us to do again? We caught some boys who were involved in the abduction but they have refused to confess, in spite of our effort to make them do so. My brother, you see, we are not magicians,” Aduba had stated.
Governor Uduaghan, who was visibly angry at the said inhuman remark when this reporter requested to know why it has remained a mystery for the police to find out the woman whether dead or alive, stated that the said comment was rather unfortunate of a police boss, who is being paid from the taxpayers’ money in order to protect lives and property.
Mokobia’s colleagues in ASUU DELSU have been in the forefront of unravelling the mystery surrounding the kidnap of the woman, making several press statements and going as far as Abuja to lodge complaints to the National Security Adviser only to return home with shattered hopes
