CHIME’S WIFE, CLARA, RETURNS TO MOTHER, KINSMEN KICK

THE estranged wife of Governor of Enugu State, Clara Chime who had been at loggerheads with her husband, Governor Sullivan Chime following allegation that the governor ordered her “restriction” at the Governor’s Lodge in Enugu, was formally handed over to her mother, Patience Igwe, at about 9.00 a.m. yesterday.
A source close to her family Monday told The Guardian that Mrs. Chime confirmed that the governor “has allowed me to go. He has given me my freedom at about 9.00 a.m. today.”
She also confirmed that it was by mutual agreement and that their four-year old son remains with his father, Governor Chime. Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana also confirmed to The Guardian that Mrs. Chime has been allowed to leave Government Lodge.
The turn of events notwithstanding, traditional rulers from Mrs. Chime’s Amuda community in Abia State have said they would visit Enugu this week to formally ask for the whereabouts of their daughter.

Speaking with The Guardian on the outcome of the consultations held by the community, the traditional ruler of Ozobolu Autonomous community, Eze Bob I. A. Ogbenna, said they were still shocked at the turn of events.
“We have heard everything and how she was manhandled in Enugu yesterday morning before she was thrown out. We have met and we have resolved to be in Enugu this week to seek audience with Chime.
“If she is sick, we want to know why she was not taken to hospital; we want to know why he feels that the best way to dissolve their marriage is by punishing the lady unnecessarily and accusing her of all sorts of things.
“Clara does not deserve the treatment she got and nobody should treat any person’s child the way the governor has done. We are not happy”, he said.
However, efforts by The Guardian to speak with her at the Coal City Estate yesterday proved abortive.
But the situation at the estate looked quiet with residents going about their businesses.
