KANO – Two children of Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State have been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC.
The siblings are Aminu Lamido, a 2010 graduate of Mass communication of Bayero University, and Mustapha Lamido, an alumni of the University of Abuja.
The brothers were arrested in Kano and have been flown to Abuja at the wee hours of Friday.
It was not immediately clear the reason for their arrest but Vanguard gathered it may not be unconnected with investigations into the account and finances of 27 local council of Jigawa state.
Sources close to the EFCC, confirming the arrest, said, ” the suspects and their files have been taken to Abuja.”
Meanwhile, Governor Lamido has abandoned the Governors ‘ forum retreat in Sokoto for Abuja to secure the release of his children.
A competent source in Dutse told Vanguard that ” Lamido is shattered by the development and has abandoned everything to attend to the emerging situation ”
