The national headquarters of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) was under heavy security siege to forestall the threat
by the breakaway group led by Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje to storm the party to
ensure the reinstatement of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as the National
Secretary of the party.
The splinter group had last week threatened to storm the party’s headquarters today to ensure that the court order reinstating Oyinlola as the PDP scribe is complied with.
The headquarters of the party was surrounded by heavily armed and stern looking riot policemen apparently to stop any attempt by the Baraje group to gain entrance into the premises.
In a related
development, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh,
has denied the statement from the splinter group that President Goodluck
Jonathan had directed the immediate reinstatement of Oyinlola.
Metuh said the leadership of the party did not receive any such directive from the president and leader of the party.
He urged the public to discountenance the report just as he dismissed the leadership of the splinter PDP as empty propagandists.
