OKOROCHA SUSPENDS COMMISSIONER FOR SLAPPING WORKER

Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha on Wednesday wielded the big stick on his Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Lady Love Mma Onyechere, by placing her on indefinite suspension for allegedly slapping an employee of the state Local Government Service Commission last week during the registration exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Ihube, Okigwe.

Her indefinite suspension was announced by the governor on Wednesday during the state executive council meeting held at the Government House, Owerri.

Although no official reason was given for the commissioner's immediate suspension, reports gathered indicate that it may not be unconnected to the over-reaction of the commissioner at the APC registration venue, after a heated argument between her and the local government staff.

It was further gathered that Governor Okorocha wanted to use the suspension to serve as a warning to other members of his cabinet on the true discipline practised by the Rescue Mission government.

Her suspension which took effect immediately after the exco meeting was contained in a statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Prof Anthony Anwuka.

This statement also directed the commissioner for primary and secondary education, Dr (Mrs) Uche Ejiogu to act in per place pending the reverse of her suspension.

When newsmen contacted the suspended commissioner, she admitted the suspension but said "It is well, but I did not slap anybody."
