CRISIS: DEPOSED IMO APC CHAIRMAN DEFIES OKOROCHA

Deposed Imo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Marshal Okafor- Anyanwu, has defied the order removing him as the chairman of the party in the state.
He said Governo
r Rochas Okorocha’s pronouncement of his removal is not binding on him. Okafor-Anyanwu, who was sacked from the chairmanship of the party last Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House, Owerri, insisted that he is still the chairman of the party.
There have also been reports that the chairman, who is from Orlu zone of the state, may be headed to the PDP, but in a telephone conversation, Okafor-Anyanwu said; “I still remain the Chairman of APC in Imo State and will contest the chairmanship position of the party in the state congress. “I am qualified to run and nobody can stop me. For emphasis please, I am still in the APC and anything about me leaving the party is speculation.”

On the plot to zone the chairmanship of the party to Owerri zone to enhance the acceptability of Governor Okorocha, who is from Orlu, for a second term, the embattled chairman said; “There is no such provision in our constitution and any plot to zone the party chairmanship will fail.
“Like I said, I will run for the position because there is no such zoning of chairmanship position in the APC constitution.” Though, Mbaise born Alan B. Onyemaechi, has been tipped to take over from Prince Marshal Okafor-Anyanwu, it seems that the embattled chairman is all primed to resist any process that would remove him without a congress.
