GIRLS ABDUCTION: SHERIFF CALLS FOR UNITED FRONT AGAINST BOKO HARAM

Former Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff had yesterday added his voice in condemning the abduction of 230 school girls by suspected members of the Boko Haram even as he called on Nigerians to rise up in unison against such “ignoble act and other related violences”.
Senator Sheriff said the abduction of the innocent school girls was the height of all criminality being perpetrated by the insurgents and implored all Nigerians from all walks of life to intensify prayers and rededicate themselves to God for His mercies.
The statement which was personally signed by the former governor reads; “I wish to join other Nigerians in adding my voice to the condemnation of all acts of terrorism and aggression against the Nigerian state and fellow citizens.

“I wish to particularly condemn the abduction of innocent school girls in Chibok, in my home state, Borno, and call on all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious, political inclinations to rise up against such ignoble acts.
“The nation must rise up against this sheer madness and affront on all Nigerians. It is the height of insensitivity for innocent school girls to be taken out of their learning environment and be subjected to the criminal livelihood of these insurgents.
“As former governor of Borno State, I am saddened that our people are being subjected to horrific experiences occasioned by the condemnable activities of the Boko Haram, which agenda is to destabilise the country and subject Nigerians to undeserved conditions.
“I am confident that Government at all levels are doing everything possible to get the roots of the matter and bring this madness to an end, but suffice it to say at this juncture that all Nigerians must rise up in unison to condemn these people and offer useful information on how they can be contained.
“My heart goes out to my people every time one life is lost, or any citizen is subjected to unbecoming experiences, and I have always condemned such acts in my heart. We must intensify prayers and rededicate ourselves in these trying times, so that Nigeria can progress”.
