STOP DENIGRATING NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEMBERS —DAVID MARK

LOKOJA—The Senate President, Senator David Mark, has urged Nigerians to stop denigrating members of the National Assembly over alleged low performance, as on the contrary, legislators at the National Assembly were doing serious business.
Mark spoke at Okene, Kogi State, yesterday, at the constituency briefing and Empowerment Programme of Senator Nurudeen Abatemi representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the Senate.
He said that all decisions and steps being taken on the floor of the Senate were aimed at keeping Nigeria together as one country.

“When it comes to national issues, the upper chamber is one, irrespective of party affiliations and so we act with the interest of Nigeria at heart.
”I also urge Nigerians to have the interest of the nation at heart. They should embrace peace, for without peace, the nation cannot get to where it ought to be,” he said.
Senator Mark, however, commended Senator Abatemi for empowering the people of his district, stressing that legislating went beyond law making since, “as a representative of the people, you cannot tell Nigerians that your duty is only to make laws without empowering the people.”
