Following the rift between a former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba and incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, over who controls the affairs of the party in the state, Amosun yesterday disclosed that he had done everything to satisfy the former governor.
While briefing the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state on the outcome of the meeting held on Friday, Amosun said he had great respect not only for the party, but its state and national executive members.
He said he pleaded with those present to ask Osoba what exactly he wants from him, saying he had done everything humanly possible to carry him along in whatever his administration is doing, but that things seem not to be in order.
The governor said Osoba could not respond to his rapproachment, hence he left after proper permission from a leader of the party, Chief Bisi Akande.
Amosun, however, described as white lies, the allegation that he stormed out of the meeting of the APC stakeholders held last Tuesday in Abuja.
According to him, I left the venue of the meeting after due permission from the interim national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, who presided over the meeting.
On arrival at the meeting, Amosun said he told the party chieftains that he had informed those present including the chairman, Akande that he would leave early because of preparations for the state investors’ forum held in the state the following day.
Recall that the state on Wednesday hosted its second world investors’ forum during which a former Mexican President, Vicente Fox, was the guest speaker.
He further told the gathering of elders who gathered at the "Mission to Rebuild" hall, Ibara Abeokuta that he left the venue with the permission of elders of the party, including Akande.
His words: "I did not storm out as widely reported, rather I left the venue of the meeting after proper permission from the chairman of the meeting and others because of the investors’ forum billed for the following day.
"It will be wrong for anyone or group to say, write or insinuate that I stormed out of the meeting when I actually received the permission of our revered party chairman, Akande."
He told the APC stakeholders that he informed the national leadership of the party that he had done everything to carry along the state leader, Chief Olusegun Osoba.
Meanwhile, Amosun has identified peaceful co-existence among the people as vital tool for socio-economic development.
The governor made the statement at this year’s annual Igbogila Day Celebration grand finale held at the Central Motor Park, Oju Atan, Igbogila, Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.
Amosun, who was represented by the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi, urged the people to continue to live together in peace and harmony to further foster unity, which he noted, is needed to strengthen democracy.
The governor said his government would not relent in the full implementation of its electoral promises, including the development of all towns in the state.
He enjoined all the people of Igbogila to co-operate with the state government to achieve “our collective goals, bearing in mind that what we do today becomes history tomorrow.
“Our collective efforts would give us the expected development. The urban renewal going on in Ayetoro would soon move to Igbogila and we believe that this would open up Igbogila for business and in turn boost the economy of the town,” the governor said.

Opebiyi added that stability and development could only be achieved in an atmosphere of love, peace and unity that is devoid of rancour and unnecessary division among the indigenes.

She added that the annual gathering is aimed at uplifting Igbogila and it's cultural heritage, so that the rich culture of people would be passed to generations yet unborn.
