ASSOCIATED AIRLINE PAYS EACH CRASH VICTIM’S FAMILY $30,000

Seven months after the Associated Airline Embrear 120 aircraft crashed in Lagos last October, the management has made an initial payment of $30 000 to each victim of the affected 16 families.
The payment was made to the families of the passengers of the ill-fated airline and the crew members in the presence of officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA and the airline’s Chief Operating Officer, Taiwo Raji.
But the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO regulations, specified that the initial compensation of $30, 000 should be paid 30 days after the crash to the families of the victims.

With the initial payment, the balance of $70,000 is expected to be made to the families soon. The management of the airline has, however, promised to pay the balance after the investigation on the incident had been concluded.
At the venue of the presentation, 15 families turned up to collect their money from the airline.
The aircraft carrying the body of the former Governor of Ondo State and Aviation Minister, Chief Olusegun Agagu, including 20 passengers and crew members crashed near the Joint User Hydrant near NAHCO in Lagos, killing about 16 passengers and crew members on board.
