CHIBOK GIRLS: SAMBO MEETS HEADS OF GOVT MEDIA ORGANISATIONS

Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo yesterday met with heads of media organisations owned by the federal government in order to ensure free flow of information on the ongoing rescue mission of the abducted Chibok school girls.
Those who attended the meeting were the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr. Ima Niboro; Director-General of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Sola Omole; Director-General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Alhaji Ladan Salihu; representative of the Director-General Voice of Nigeria (VON), Alhaji Muhammed Danjuma; Senior Special Assistant on to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, and the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Umar Sani.

Fielding questions from State House correspondents after the meeting, Okupe said the meeting was aimed at enhancing the process of information dissemination both within and outside the country.
“It is important that this is used to support the efforts of the military in the search for our missing girls in Chibok,” he said.
He said the meeting would be reconvened today and that the Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, and other heads of relevant agencies are expected to attend.
On his part, Umar Sani said there are plans for the establishment of Information Centres on the abducted girls in order to provide accurate and prompt information to the public on the ongoing rescue mission.
