NIGERIA NEEDS LEADERS, NOT LOOTERS – MAITAMA SULE

Nigeria’s former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule, has said that, Nigeria needs leaders like late Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto, and not bunch of looters who are parading themselves as leaders today for Nigeria to get out of its numerous challenges, to pilot its affairs.
The Danmasani Kano who spoke a
t the commissioning of the ultra-modern multi billion Naira Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation headquarters, in Kaduna yesterday, said, the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto lived and died for the liberation and development of Northern Nigerian people and Nigeria in general.
According to the elder statesman, who recalled the good days and leadership style of the late Sardauna with nostalgia, “Sardauna cannot be faulted, politically, religiously, economically and socially”.

While, noting that selfless sacrifice is what differentiates the founding fathers of Nigeria from the present crop of leaders, Maitama Sule said, if Nigeria has such leaders again, it will regain its past glory.
“We need leaders, not looters; we need leaders who will quit when the ovation is loud, not leaders who will insist on ruling even when they can no longer perform; those who want to remain in power till death do them part; like a church marriage. May God give us such leaders,” he prayed.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Advisory Council of the Ahmadu Bello Foundation, Hon. Justice Mamman Nasir said, Northern Nigerian people must come together to revive the old united region.
He said, it is unfortunate that hundreds of Northerners are dying on a daily basis, saying that is unacceptable and that the North must be ready to sacrifice to save its sons and daughters in the North-East.
