2015: DON’T VOTE COUP PLOTTERS, OHANAEZE URGES ELECTORATE

As Nigerians prepare for the 2015 general elections, the Igbo apex ruling body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday urged Nigerians not to vote for the former military head of state, General Mohammedu Buhari and others who planned and executed a military coup against the duly elected democratic civilian government of Nigeria.
Making the urge, the Oh
anaeze Chairman in Anambra State, Elder Chris Eluemuno said, “anyone who has carried out coup against a democratically elected civilian government does not deserve to be President of this great country”.
“When Buhari planned a coup against the civilian regime of Alhaji Shehu Shagari and his vice, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, he clamped both in detention, Shagari was placed under house arrest in a poshed house at Victoria Island while Ekwueme was detained at the kirikiri maximum prison because he hates the Igbos,” Eluemuno revealed.
“Both Shagari as the then head of state and Ekwueme as vice committed no offence rather than that they were president and vice of Nigeria,” he posited.“Buhari carried out a coup against an elected civilian government and as such deserves not to be elected in a democratic civilian government which Nigeria is presently enjoying.
“I can recall also that Buhari executed a youngman, Bathelomew Owoh from Udi, Enugu State, for an Indian hemp offence that carried six months sentence then . He backdated the offence he made just to accommodate Owoh and he was executed by the firing squad. “If Buhari wants to be President he should be president of the military and not that of the civilian administration,” Eluemuno stated
