PDP RIGGED S-EAST ELECTION MASSIVELY – KALU

Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, says it is unfair to accuse the Igbo of voting en masse for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that PDP massively rigged the election in the region.
Kalu, made the statement said this during an interview session on a Channels TV programme, tagged, “View from the Top,” yesterday..
According to the former governor said who failed to secure the Abia-North senatorial seat, on the platform of the Progressives Peoples Alliance, believed that he did not lose in the election but was rigged out by the PDP.
He said, “The issue is that what happened in my constituency was a rigged election. Apart from Enugu and Ebonyi states, where the PDP had very good outings, every other state they won in the South-East was rigged.

SENATORIAL SLOT: REFUND MY N5.5M, KALU TELLS PDP

A former Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Kalu, has said he is no longer running for the Senate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The former governor has therefore asked the party to refund the N5.5m he paid for the nomination and expression of interest forms, which he paid thinking that he would contest the party’s ticket for Abia North Senatorial District.
Kalu, in a letter to the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, dated November 24, said he was withdrawing from the race because the Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has allegedly concluded plans to hand-pick PDP aspirants in the state.
“Since I was not screened and neither did I go through any of the stipulated processes that lead to the emergence of candidates, I hereby also ask the party, as a measure of honour and good faith, to refund the nomination fees I paid. I will use the money to further empower my constituents in many other ways,” he said in the letter.

IGBOS, YORUBAS CANNOT BECOME PRESIDENT… – ORJI KALU

Former Governor of Abia, Chief Orji Kalu, on Tuesday said an Igbo or Yoruba cannot become president of Nigeria without the support of other geo-political zones in the country.
Orji who spoke to journalists at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, Kalu noted that President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration needed all the support to ensure stability in the country.
Kalu said the South-East would mobilise for President Jonathan in the 2015 election, which was the game plan that would bring him back for another term.
“The truth of the matter is that Igbos cannot make themselves president. Neither the Ijaws nor Yorubas can become president without the support of other tribes and other Nigerians.

KALU: INSURGENCY IS POLITICAL, AIMED AT STOPPING JONATHAN

Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, yesterday said the insurgency in the North-eastern part of the country is aimed at stopping President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting for 2015 presidential election.
Kalu, who lauded the president for stabilising the polity since his assumption of office, wondered why some people were bent on sponsoring the activities of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

According to Kalu who spoke with journalists at the People Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat, said: “Insurgency is new in Nigeria. It is all politically-motivated and aimed at stopping President Jonathan. The people who do not want Jonathan are sponsoring it.”

Former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu has boasted that if he is made the president of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) the Super Eagles will win the World Cup.
Kalu is renowned for his exploits in bringing Enyimba FC to prominence,helping out the club with the financial wherewithal to compete and win back to back CAF Champions League trophies in 2003 and 2004.

CONFERENCE FULL OF SLEEPY OLD MEN –KALU

A former Abia State governor, Orji Kalu, has described the ongoing National Conference in Abuja as a home to old men who do not have the strength to decide the future of the nation.
Speaking at the Centenary Lecture organised by the Oyo State branch of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kalu, who delivered a lecture titled, ‘Nigeria: A Nation in Quest of Credible Leadership’, said Nigeria would not move forward unless the first generation leaders withdrew gradually from politics.
He said, “The present crop of leaders seems to be failing the nation and the people are becoming increasingly doubtful if indeed we have leaders. To worsen matters, the first generation leaders are still mostly the ones calling the shots. If you go through the National Conference delegates’ list, you will be amazed by the number of men in their 80s still trying to determine the type of future that is suitable for the millennium generation. What fresh ideas can these sleepy old men offer on the way forward? There can be no credible leadership until these men begin to gradually withdraw and allow the younger generation to take charge.”

KALU OFFERS TO LEAD TALKS WITH BOKO HARAM

The Federal Government is “playing to the media and not the problem” in its approach to the al Qaeda-linked insurgent group Boko Haram,former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu has said.

Kalu is calling for direct talks with Boko Haram militants, who have killed thousands of Nigerians since 2009, and he has offered to be an intermediary.

His call for negotiations comes as the U.S. government on Monday announced a $23 million reward for the capture of the militants’ leader.

Kalu told The Washington Times: “There is a smarter, more effective way to keep the Boko Haram from growing into a force that will tear Nigeria apart, but so far the government is playing to the media and not the problem.”

I GAVE OBASANJO N100M FOR 1999 ELECTIONS –KALU

Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said he gave  ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo N100m to run his campaign in 1999.

He said he gave another N100m to the Peoples Democratic Party prior to the 1999 elections.

The former governor said this as ‘Guest of the Week’ on a Kaduna-based Liberty FM radio programme on Saturday.

He said, “I made millions before joining politics. I was doing business between Maiduguri and the East. I carried fish from Maiduguri to the East and palm oil from the East to Maiduguri. So, I had money and invested so much in the PDP.

ABSU SENATE REVOKES KALU’S DEGREE CERTIFICATE

The first degree certificate obtained by Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu when he was the Abia State governor has been revoked  by the Senate of Abia State university Uturu (ABSU) following its findings that the certificate was fraudulently awarded.

The sad news for the former Abia governor was made public in statement issued at the weekend by the registrar/secretary to Senate, O.E Onuoha, saying  the decision was taken at the resumed 69th extra-ordinary meeting of the Senate held on Friday, March 1.

With the “cancellation and withdrawal of the degree result and certificate awarded to him” the former presidential candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) would no longer regard himself as a graduate of Government and Public Administration.

‘KALU HAS NO DEGREE CERTIFICATE TO BE REVOKED’

Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has been advised to face his certificate scandal alone without dragging the state Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, into the messy affair, which was already in the public domain before the present administration came to power.

Kalu had reportedly cried out over what he regarded as a politically-motivated move by his successor to revoke a degree certificate awarded him by the Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), following the completion of his university education.

The former governor’s university education was alleged to have been truncated at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) several years before he became Abia State governor in 1999.

Orji may have taken the fight against his predecessor and benefactor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu to a more desperate level as Daily Sun reliably gathered that he is making subterranean moves to revoke the degree awarded the former governor by the Abia State University (ABSU) in 2002.

Gov. Orji who is invoking his powers as Visitor to the university is said to be behind a move compelling the varsity authorities to consider the recommendations of a kangaroo investigative panel that allegedly looked into a spurious petition lodged against the award of the degree to Kalu by the university several years ago. Kalu who had abandoned his degree programmme at the University of Maiduguri had his transcript records and other details transferred to ABSU while he was serving as governor and eventually completed the programme some eleven years ago.
