A police corporal, Mr
Anthony Ngwuoke, attached to B operations in Aba-kaliki, Ebonyi State, in the
early hours of Sunday, shot himself dead, after killing his 30-year-old wife
and two daughters.
The wife, whose name was given as Nkechin-yere and daughters, three-year-old Adaeze and one-year-old Chidimma, were rushed to the hospital, where they were confirmed dead.
However, the cause of the incident, which occurred at Edda village in Ugwuechara, Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state, was not yet known.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Sylvester Igbo, said the body of the deceased policeman, who was also an orderly to a High Court judge in Abakaliki, had been deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.
According to the PPRO, one pistol and one live cartridge were recovered at the scene of the incident, stressing that investigation had commenced.
