A 31-year-old motorcyclist, Wasiu Ogunnoiki, was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Court 1 in Sagamu for denting the image of the Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, on social media.
Ogunnoiki, who was arraigned on a two-count charge, was however remanded in prison custody till December 5 when his matter would come up again for failing to meet the bail condition granted him by Chief Magistrate O.O. Ojo.
During court proceeding, Ogunnoiki was alleged to have contravened Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code, volume II Laws of Ogun State 2006 by publishing on his Facebook account that Amosun demolished houses in the state without compensating affected property owners.

Ogunnoiki, a commercial motorcyclist in Sagamu metropolis, allegedly published derogatory and defamatory articles about the personality of the governor on his facebook account wherein he allegedly incited the people of the state against the Amosunled administration in the state.
Ogunnoiki was also said to have published the photographs of APC Sagamu local government party chairman, Kafar on his facebook accout, alleging that the party chairman in conjunction with members of the Labour Party have concluded plan to sack Amosun from office before the 2015 general election.
Ruling on the matter, Chief Magistrate Ojo however granted the accused bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties who must also reside within the Court’s jurisdiction in addition to holding a landed property in the state. The judge thereafter adjourned the case till December 5 for further hearing.
