WE’LL JOINTLY TACKLE EBOLA, OBAMA ASSURES NIGERIA

Two days after a Republican Senator representing Arizona in the Senate, John Sidney McCain, urged the United States to help Nigeria and other Ebola affected West African countries, President Barrack Obama yesterday gave his assurance that he will render assistance to jointly tackle the disease.
McCain had on Monday urged President Obama to show more interest in helping the Ebola affected countries.
But, in a video statement released by US State Department in Washington, DC, Obama urged West African countries battling with the outbreak not to touch the corpses of loved ones who had succumbed to the deadly disease.

He said, “When burying someone who has died from this terrible disease, it is important not to directly touch his body. You can respect your traditions and honour your loved ones without risking the lives of the living.
“If you feel sick with a high fever, you should get help right away. We will together improve on public health.
“The most common way you can get Ebola is by touching the body fluids of someone who is sick or who has died from it like their sweat, saliva or blood, or through a contaminated item like a needle. Together we can treat those who are sick with respect and dignity.
In the video, Obama offered prayers of the American people to those who had lost loved ones during the terrible outbreak of Ebola and also urged those in the affected region to seek immediate medical care if they suspect they have contacted Ebola.
World Health Organisation (WHO) warned last week that the outbreak was accelerating and could affect some 20,000 people before being brought under control. Already, more than 1,500 people have died from Ebola in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
