KANO BAN THE USE OF BAGS IN SCHOOLS

As part of security measures put in place by secondary schools and some tertiary institutions in kano, the use of bags and food flaks in secondary and primary schools have been banned by various school authorities in an attempt to ensure that no one smuggled any explosive material to school premises.
Some parents have how ever expressed concern that the new development would hinders their wards from carrying food to the schools for break an
d that their children are now carrying their books in their hands this they said would make them tear the books. They called on the state government to intervene in the matter and provide other means of screening students before entering the school premises.
Students in high institutions like the Kano state school of legal studies and the New North West University are also not allow to use bags into their school compounds a development especially the ladies see as difficult for them to cope with. Some of them said as ladies they can’t do without their bags as their bags usually contains some ladies stuff necessary for their day to day life activities.
When contacted the state Commissioner of Education Alhj Tajuddeen said it was not the decision of the state gov but measures deem necessary by school authorities to provide safe place of learning for their students. He called on people to bear with school authorities over the new development as it is due to the problem of insecurity in the country.
