N-DELTA EX-MILITANTS BLAME BOKO HARAM INSURGENCY ON NORTHERN LEADERS

BOMADI—Niger Delta former militants have accused some Northern political leaders of secretly sponsoring and aiding the Boko Haram sect in its reign of terror in the north with the sole aim of truncating the smooth running of President Goodluck Jonathan’s government.
The ex-militants also threw their weight behind Jonathan’s reque
st to the National Assembly for extension of the state of emergency declared in three states affected by the sect’s onslaught in the North, saying that it would enable government to achieve the desired peace in the area.
Speaking with newsmen, Delta State chairman, Amnesty Phase 2, Mr Kingsley Muturu, noted that wasting of life and property as perpetrated by the Boko Haram sect in the north-east could easily be put to an end by arresting their sponsors, some of whom, he alleged, were also campaigning to be president of the country in 2015.

The ex-militant group urged Jonathan to arrest Boko Haram-linked political leaders, as well as those who had publicly vowed to turn the country upside down if their political ambitions were not successful, for trial.
They warned government not to tolerate such individuals and their evil lifestyle of wasting innocent lives at will for the sake of personal ambitions.
They further pledged support and confidence in the Jonathan administration, especially his transformation agenda for the nation and expressed the belief that, come 2015, will celebrate together with other Nigerians Jonathan’s victory at the poll.
The ex-militant group said: “We commend Pastor Rueben Wilson for the Uyo rally organised for Mr. President. We also commend President Jonathan and all Niger Deltans, notably Mr. Kingsley Kuku, Asari Dokubo and all our brothers and sisters in the Niger Delta struggle, for their presence. We are encouraged by the rally organised for Mr. President and we are confident that in 2015, we will celebrate his victory at the poll.”
