FORMER Lagos State governor and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Friday took a swipe on the Federal Government and called on President Goodluck Jonathan to either resign his position or stop giving excuses on Nigeria’s mirage of problems.
Tinubu spoke in Benin City when he commissioned some projects by the state government including the expanded New Lagos Road and newly built General Hospital in Ewohinmi, Esan South East local government council.
He said Nigerians are tired of excuses and called for the resignation of Jonathan since he could not fix Nigeria’s problems particularly insecurity.
He called on Nigerians to use their voter’s card in the 2015 general election and vote out the Peoples Democratic Party.
“They ask me to come and commission and I will not leave without talking and that is why all these great men and women are assembled here. Let everybody know that I come to celebrate all of you because you have a leader.
“A nation fails because of leadership failure. If there is a good leader at the top, nations will not fail because fish start to rotten
from the head. The tribulations, insecurity and lack of services we are experiencing in the country today is because the leadership has failed. Let them stop giving us excuses like Boko Haram is in our government; they should fish them out. Today Boko Haram is saboteur, military is saboteur; it means they are admitting failure. What we hear is excuses upon excuses. We are saying no excuse for failure, Mr President. We chose you to defend this country, quit, resign if you can’t do it; enough of excuses,” he said.
He noted that the revolution being craved, especially by the APC is not that of bloodshed but that of determination to vote out bad leaders in the country. This is the common sense revolution.
“We must all unite by going to villages and communities, across the state and country to canvas for votes that will vote out bad leaders.”
He commended Oshiomhole for his stand at developing the state. He also commended the state lawmakers for collaborating with the state executive to ensure that only the people matters in their legislative business.
“I sincerely commend the state legislature for their firm stand against the wishes of the minority to derail democratic dividend in the state. Your courage and steadfastness is only worth commendation. You were able to manage your own poverty by not falling for the temptation of Naira and kobo.
“As for the governor, he has remained a progressive, especially for refusing to share the state resources with some politicians who surrounded him.
“We understand these politicians have left us. We are saying those who want to go, over failure of the governor to share the people’s money should go.
“His visible transformation is seen in the area of education, provision of water, energy, agriculture and roads, amongst others.
Earlier in his address, Oshiomhole reiterated the desire of his administration to continue to build on the achievement it has recorded thus far across the state.
