CONTROVERSY TRAILS ENEBELI'S LAGOS BURIAL

Considering the hot tears and avalanche of tributes that characterized the painful exit of veteran Nollywood thespian, Enebeli Elebuwa famously known as Andrew, one would have expected a burial ceremony devoid of controversies.
Sadly, as the January 10, 2013 burial date draws closer, the atmosphere has again gone unwholesome as plans for his entombment is currently enmeshed in crisis and generating storms.
The hullaballoo was recently ignited with the announcement that the Delta State-born screen legend would be buried in Lagos State, instead of Delta State where he hails from.
Following the shocking pronouncement, critics, fans, well wishers as well as some AGN members and kinsmen of the celebrated movie veteran stirred the atmosphere with questions and rhetoric. While some are simply demanding explanations on why the late Andrew should be buried in a ‘strange land’, others were hell-bent on ensuring that his corpse is conveyed and buried in his home town.
Entertainment Express spoke with the Public Relations Officer, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Frank Dallas, who confirmed that the obsequies for the veteran actor had been announced, but not pleasant to a cross section of the people.
“The burial date has been announced and plans are also in top gear to commit him to mother earth”, Dallas stated. The PRO who confirmed that AGN has paid condolence visit to the bereaved family refused answering questions on the raging issue. “I don’t really know what is happening”, he said.
The cold hands of death on December 5, 2012 snatched the veteran actor, thereby throwing the nation into mourning.
The burial arrangement has taken a new dimension with the proposed plan of burying the thespian in Lagos, instead of Delta State, without cogent reasons.
Enebeli’s corpse arrived Nigeria, from New Delhi, India, on December 15.
