NORTHERNERS AFTER JONATHAN’S LIFE – DOKUBO

Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujaheed Asari Dokubo, yesterday replied his critics, saying that some politicians from the North were after the life of President Goodluck Jonathan and the Presidency in 2015.
He, however, said the plot would not succeed, and reiterated his stand, vowing that Jonathan must win 2015 presidential election and complete two-term in office.
In an exclusive interview with BBC Hausa Service monitored in Kaduna, Dokubo, who accused Northern politicians of destabilising the government, said Jonathan: “He is a beloved son of Niger Delta, and they will vehemently resist plans to scuttle his government with ulterior motives.”

Dokubo, who is also leader of the Niger Delta militants that were granted amnesty by late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, said: “I said Goodluck “Jonathan will win, and he must win; there are no two ways. The consequences will be so dear for the Nigerian state. For long, he is called different names.
He is a human being and comes from somewhere, and his people are ready to protect him. We are the ones feeding this country and providing the source of livelihood of all Nigerians; because of this, we must say what we want and so, Jonathan must get a second term. And if not, the consequences will not be good for all.”
When asked to explain the consequences of Jonathan not getting re-elected, Dokubo said: “We take the meal off the table; we cut off means of life. We don’t need amnesty. Goodluck Jonathan has done well for Northerners, but they are not appreciating him. They are aiming the presidency and his life. And they will not succeed.”
Insisting that he is not Jonathan’s pundit, Dokubu argued, “I am not Jonathan’s boy, I have been in this struggle during Abacha, Abdulsalam, and Obasanjo administration where I was imprisoned and also detained in SSS office. Who asked me to speak at that time?
He concluded by blasting his critics, saying, “That is their problem; I don’t even care if they exist. They used to come to me and I gave them money because they are beggars.”
