Former minister of information and Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark,
has said that he had uncovered plans by some members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to make the country ungovernable for President Goodluck Jonathan.
Chief Clark also stated that it is most
disturbing that the party machinery is being manipulated by disloyal members in
collaboration with the opposition for no just cause simply because they are nominated members into the national working
committee of the PDP. Chief Clark, in a press statement made
available to LEADERSHIP,
therefore suggested that the party should call a mini convention after the NEC meeting today
(Thursday June 20, 013) to correct the issues raised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said, “Apart from creating security tension
in the country which is failing, they now resort to manipulating the party, this, too shall fail. Alhaji Bamanga Tukur remains authentic, validated, elected chairman of the PDP and no undemocratic
manipulation can change it or subvert it.
“It must therefore, be emphasised that the
party is supreme as contained in the constitution, article 2. But these enemies
of the party within the party would rather subvert the party provisions of
supremacy for their own personal and group interest. They now forget that it
was the same supremacy of power that brought them where they are now. What a
shame.”
