The internal feud rocking the Ogun State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday took another twist, as the party congresses produced two parallel executive councils.
Faction of the party loyal to the former Governor Osoba held the congresses at a private hall in Quarry road, Abeokuta, while Amosun and his loyalists stayed at the June 12 Cultural Center, Kuto Abeokuta.
Chief Osoba and the deputy Governor to Amosun, who is also a loyalist and in-law to Osoba, Prince Segun Adsegun, did not attend either of the congresses where factional state executives were elected.
While Chief Olu Agemo, the current chairman of the Ogun State Agricultural Board, was elected the State Chairman of the Osoba group, Chief Roqeeb Adeniji emerged the Chairman of the Governor Amosun faction at the congresses.
All the three serving Senator in the state; Adegbenga Kaka of Ogun East, Akin Odusi of West and Gbenga Obadara of Ogun Central all shunned governor Amosun to attend the factional congress conducted by Osoba group of the party.
Others at Osoba congress which was monitored by a National Ex-Officio of the party, Yemi Sanusi were; Hon. Adekunle Adeyemi (Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency), Hon. Olumide Osoba (Abeokuta North/Odeda/Obafemi-Owode), Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun (Ijebu North/Ogun Waterside), Hon. Bukola Buraimo (Sagamu/Remo North) and Odeneye Kehinde (Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East federal
Constituency).
Members of the state House of Assembly present at the Osoba group’s
congress included Hon. Femi Allen-Taylor (Abeokuta South), Hon. Adijat
Adeleye-Oladapo (Ifo II State Constituency) and Elizabeth Anifowose of
Obafemi Owode state constituency.
The former secretary of defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN),
Alhaji Abimbola Awofeso emerged as the state secretary at Osoba camp
while Chief Ayebusua Toyin emerged the state secretary of the Amosun
faction.
At the Osoba factional congress, names of the officials were read out to delegates and were adopted 4ijmby voice votes while Amosun’s factional congress conducted an election in what look like an encompassing congress as the name of Osoba’s factional Chairman also surfaced in Amosun’s list.
