3 CHADIAN NATIONALS NABBED OVER RAID ON SENATOR OMISORE’S LAGOS HOME

Three Chadian nationals have been arrested by the police for allegedly raiding the Lagos home of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in today’s governorship election, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, on June 18 this year. The three illegal aliens were members of a four-man armed robbery gang which specialised in breaking into choice homes of prominent men in Lagos. The suspects Mohammed Musa, Ibrahim Mohammed and Jitto Saleh, one of them still at large, allegedly used iron cutters to cut the security wire of the Lagos home of Senator Iyola Omisore situated at Ikoyi, Lagos.
The suspects were said to have tied two security men attached to the home of the frontline politician and posted one of the gang members, Mohammed Musa to guard the security men from escaping from the scene of incident.
Saturday THISDAY gathered that the suspects used iron cutter to cut the window, entered the house and allegedly raped the housemaid who was the only person in the main house when they stormed the home.

“They then went to the Senator’s room, ransacked the room and carted away valuables yet to be estimated,” said a source. While they were inside, it was gathered that the launderer at the boys quarter called Ikoyi police station before the police responded promptly to the scene. While they were escaping, one of them was shot on the leg and arrested while others, escaped.
Following the arrest, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, asked that the suspects be transferred to the operatives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, led by Abba Kyari, a Superintendent of Poilce (SP). “Mohammed Musa, the arrested suspect, took SARS detectives to Lekki, Epe Road, their hideout, where other members of the gang were arrested. They now took police to another hideout at Ibafo, Ogun State where an exchange of gun fire took place. One of the robbers sustained bullet wounds and later died on the way to the hospital, while Jitto Saleh was arrested,” offered a police source.
Two guns, one cutlass, one iron bar, a pen knife, assorted charms and five iron cutters were recovered from the gang.
In their separate confessions, Ibrahim Abdullahi, 27 years old and a native of Amhiman Village, Chad, claimed he came to Nigeria in 2010.
“I was working as a security man in Anthony. After I travelled to my village to marry my second wife, I came back four months ago. I did not have job again. I went to stay with Mohammed Musa in Lekki. It was Mohammed Saleh that took us there when I told him I did not have money and that I needed a job. He took us there at about 2pm. We took off from Obalende and hid in the flower till about 2pm. Mohammed Saleh, after cutting the wire entered, moved around the building for some time before he came to call us in. We tied the two security guards with rope. We asked Mohammed to be watching over them. We carted away some clothes and shoes because the man was not in the house. We collected one phone and wrist-watch. Mohammed Saleh and Idris went up. Saleh had stayed up to 20 years in Nigeria. I have followed for robbery two times and I have not been arrested before.”
Musa, 26, from Ndam, Chad said: “I was a security man at Living Word Church, Ajah. I was being paid N15,000 but I could not continue because the pay was poor and I was asked to leave. So, I packed to Ibrahim Mohammed’s home. So, without work and no money, I followed them for robbery operations. The next job I got was a contract. It was not every time they paid me. That time they were building the house and after building, the contract finished and I was asked to stop. I was trying to escape when I was shot on the leg and arrested.”
Saleh, 32, had this to say: “I entered Nigeria with cows. I have two children. I specialise in moving cow to Nigeria. I was arrested at Ibafo. I have a room there. Many people live there with me. It is an abandoned building. It was a security man, Zakari, that called me that police was (sic) coming. I know Ibrahim Mohammed. I did not know he is a robber. And I did not participate. It was when I was running that police arrested me.”
