PUSH APC INTO ATLANTIC OCEAN, AGBAJE TELLS IGBO

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has urged Igbo across the state to push the All Progressives Congress ‘into the lagoon’ by voting for him on Saturday.
Agbaje said this while addressing Igbo traders at the Alaba International Market on Thursday.
The PDP candidate urged them to ignore the threats made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, that if they do not vote for the APC governorship candidate on Saturday, they would die in the lagoon.
“Nobody can push you into the Atlantic Ocean. Rather, you should use your votes to push the APC into the Atlantic Ocean by voting massively for the PDP on Saturday,” Agbaje said.

MAN, 29, IN TROUBLE OVER POSTER DEFACEMENT IN LAGOS

A 29-year-old man, Fisayo Olomojobi, who allegedly defaced posters of the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, was on Wednesday charged before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who lives at No. 2, Amen St., off Abule-Oja, Yaba, is being tried on a three-count charge of conspiracy, breach of peace and unlawful damage.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the offences were committed sometime this month at Osborn Road, Ikoyi.

APC IS LOSING STEAM IN LAGOS, SAYS AGBAJE

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2015 governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has described the campaign of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as having lost steam.
Agbaje spoke at an interactive dinner held in his honour in Lagos. “The other party has had to change their team. One does not change a winning team, except when in trouble,” according to Agbaje.
He reiterated earlier statements that he was determined to change the face of governance in Lagos. “I believe I can make a significant difference in making Lagos more competitive.
“We are 20 million Lagosians, by 2035 we will be about 30-35 million; we cannot be a megacity just on the basis of population.

PDP ’LL FREE LAGOS FROM 16 YEARS’ BONDAGE —AGBAJE

The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr Jimi Agbaje, has said that the party will free residents of the state from the ‘bondage’ of 16 years the ruling party in the state have subjected them to.
Agbaje made this disclosure at the Town Hall Meeting of the Goodluck Support Group (GSG), a group of supporters seeking the installation of Agbaje as the next governor of the state as well as seeking the re-election of President Jonathan.
In his remarks at the event which was held at the International Trade Fair Complex, Ojo, Lagos, Mr Agbaje insisted that the only ‘change’ (referring to the slogan of the state ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC)) that Lagosians needed, was a change in a government which he said, had held Lagos residents in different kinds of bondage. He listed some of the ‘bondage’ as ‘wicked’ policies, ‘back-breaking’ taxes, corruption, among others.

PRODUCE MY SUPPOSED N500,000 TAX RECEIPT, AGBAJE CHALLENGES FASHOLA

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has challenged the state Governor, Babatunde Fashola, to present the receipt of the make-up tax the politician is supposed to have paid after being publicly accused of evading land use charges on his business premises.
“There is no truth in this latest piece of misinformation that the governor is spreading around. He lied again, giving the impression that my company paid money after his initial outburst and his first lie.
“JayKay Pharmaceuticals has not paid a kobo since the day Fashola launched his initial allegation. To say that I have now paid N500,000 is a lie. My company sticks to the facts contained in its initial publication, which encapsulated its reaction to the governor’s initial falsehood.”

How prepared are you for the election?
You cannot be 100 per cent prepared, but we are definitely prepared. You can see there are lots of activities going on; we are very busy and everybody is occupied. We’re not afraid. We know what we have to do before the day of election and we believe once those things are done properly, victory will be ours definitely.

WE’LL END LOOTING IN LAGOS, SAYS AGBAJE

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Mr Jimi Agbaje, vowed, yesterday, to end what he called the looting trend in the state.
Agbaje, who rode on a commercial motorbike, popularly known as Okada, to attend a mammoth rally held at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Lagos, said he would enthrone decent and more humane governance if elected as governor.
He said: “For so long, the APC leaders have been deceiving the people of Lagos. When election is coming, they will reduce school fees; when you vote them in, they’ll increase the fees. Before election, they will embrace Okada riders only to make their lives hell thereafter. They will reduce the cost of land approval before election and increase it after. This is deceit.

I’M THE CHANGE LAGOS NEEDS–AGBAJE

Ahead of the February 28 gov¬ernorship poll, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje has said that what the state needs in the election is change and not continuity.
Agbaje, who asserted he was the change the state needed, spoke in a recent interview with journalists in the state.
Excerpts:
Looking at the annual Internal Generated Revenue in Lagos State, can you really say that the state government has matched the money with the level of devel¬opment across the state?
The answer is no. Although I am not saying the state has not done anything at all. The IGR has moved from N10bn in 1999 to N400bn today. So you have an increase in capital. But then what has been the other side of it? The question is one, our borrowing has also increased. As recent as 2007, I think our borrowing was about 51 per cent of the total rev¬enue but today as at the end of 2014, our borrowing is now about 113 percent of the total revenue. In other words, today, Lagos owes about N435 billion and our income is about N389 billion. So, our debt has increased tremendously. Here people talk about the rating and rank¬ings, but everyone knows that rating or not, when you are borrowing at that rate, especially now that oil has crashed, and we have debts in dollars which we have to pay, we are in for a tough time ahead.

BUHARI IS NOW A CAPTIVE OF BOURDILLION — AGBAJE

IN a manner suggestive of the new realities around the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Gen Mohammadu Buhari ,rtd, he has been described as a captive of his new political associates.

FASHOLA: AGBAJE NO THREAT TO LAGOS APC

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, yesterday said that the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Jimmy Agbaje, was never a threat to the All Progressives Congress. He said that the ruling party in the state would retain its dominance in 2015 election.
The governor, who also took a swipe on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over what he described as demonstration of poor logistic capacity to organise a hitch-free election, said he would do better than Professor Attahiru Jega, if he was saddled with responsibility of heading the electoral umpire. Insisting that APC’s governorship candidate, Akinwumi Ambode would defeat Agbaje in 2015 gubernatorial poll, Fashola said he would not handover to an inexperienced politician who, according to him, will rule Lagos by experimenting. He added that Ambode has a 27 years experience in the service of the state and would consolidate on his achievement, if elected in 2015. Fashola spoke at the maiden end of Year news conference organised by the state government.

LAGOS PDP PRIMARIES: AGBAJE CARPETS OBANIKORO, APC

Lagos state governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has challenged fellow aspirant, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, to speak the truth about the so-called excess votes reportedly recorded in Monday’s primaries.
He also told the rival All Progressives Congress (APC) not to play holier-than-thou over the PDP controversy.
According to a statement by Felix Oboagwina, Director of Media and Publicity for Mr. Jimi Agbaje, in the course of the primaries, the six aspirants agreed that there was a clerical omission in the originally announced tally of 806, as it had left out some ad hoc and statutory delegates from a few local governments, and those should be reckoned and allowed to vote.
Earlier placed at 806 delegates, the total figure for voting delegates finally came to 864 after votes were cast.

JIMI AGBAJE WINS LAGOS PDP GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARIES

Mr Jimi Agbaje has won the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State defeating a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.
The result was announced at about 11:20pm local time on Monday.
While counting was going on, there was an uproar, as some persons tried to grab the ballot box, Channels Television’s political correspondent, Seun Okinbaloye reported.
It is one of the last results that were released in the governorship primary elections held across Nigeria.

PDP ’LL RULE LAGOS FOR 16 YEARS —AGBAJE

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Jimi Agbaje, on Monday, promised that the party would not only create an electoral upset next February but also rule Lagos State for 16 uninterrupted years.
Consequently, he has asked party members to ensure PDP’s victory in the gubernatorial polls so that Mr Sikiru Ogboye, a PDP agent, shot dead earlier this month, did not die in vain.
Agbaje, who was addressing party delegates from Lagos East Senatorial district at Mende, Maryland in Lagos, enjoined them to work assiduously for PDP’s success based on the eagerness of Lagos residents for a change of guard in the state.
It will be recalled that Ogboye was shot dead, allegedly on the orders of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while monitoring the Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) distribution exercise on November 9.

Ahead of Thursday’s conclusion of the sale of nomination forms for all elective positions, more governorship aspirants from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have paid to signify their intention to contest for governorship election.
One such aspirant is Mr. Jimi Agbaje from Lagos Statewho pledged to transform the state to a level befitting of an international state capital if voted into power as governor.
Briefing journalists after picking his nomination form at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, Agbaje said: “Lagos State is the economic hub in our country and region and the dynamics of the politics of Lagos is very different generally from across the country; what you find is that Lagosians have very high aspirations and they are concerned about having a government that will make their aspiration come true.”
“They know what they are looking for; Lagos is about governance, good governance. Lagos is about making things better for the people.

AGBAJE VOWS TO BE FOCUSED ON LAGOS GUBER RACE

New entrant into Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and governorship aspirant, Jimi Agbaje, has said he would be focused and avoid distractions in his quest to emerge candidate of the party.
He stated this in the Surulere Local Government of the state on Thursday in continuation of his tour of the 57 local council areas’ chapters of the party.
Agbaje was welcomed by a tumultuous crowd amidst funfair.
Many of the supporters who wore vests with inscriptions such as, ‘Jaykay still Ok’ and ‘ Jaykay for Alausa’, said they have long been waiting for Agbaje’s indication to join the race in readiness for the governorship election.
Party members present said they have unanimously agreed to give Agbaje their full support during the primaries and the election proper.

2015: JIMI AGBAJE AT LAGOS PDP OFFICE, MEETS PARTY EXCO

RUMOUR doing the rounds that former governorship candidate of Democratic Peoples Alliance (DPA) in the 2007 polls, Mr Jimi Agbaje, will contest the 2015 poll on the platform of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) ,to become the next governor of Lagos State, finally ended on Monday.
This is as the pharmacist-turned politician stormed the party secretariat in Ikeja with core of his supporters led by Chief Wahab Owokoniran, former Director-General, Bola Tinubu Campaign Organisation (BATCO) in 1999 and former Student Union president, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State ,Mr Lanre Adeleke, among others to hold meeting with the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) members, headed by Captain Tunji Shelle.

LAGOS 2015: CHIEFTAINS OF DEFUNCT DPA RE-GROUP FOR JIMI AGBAJE

As the 2015 General Election gathers momentum, chieftains of the defunct Democratic People Alliance (DPA) in Lagos State, have re-grouped to resuscitate the campaign structure of Chief Jimi Agbaje for the governorship race of the state.
Agbaje, fondly called J.K.A by his admirers was the governorship candidate of DPA in the 2011 election in Lagos State. He came third in the election results.

LAGOS 2015: AGBAJE DENIES MEETING JONATHAN

Contrary to wide spread report in national dailies, Democratic Peoples Alliance (DPA) governorship candidate in the 2007 elections in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has denied that he was taken to President Goodluck Jonathan as potential candidate of the lead opposition in Lagos State by a Peoples Democratic Party stalwart, Chief Bode George.

Agbaje, while speaking with THISDAY Tuesday expressed surprise that he was reported to have met with the President, saying he had met George, once and that it was about three years ago.
