LAGOS GOVT CAUTIONS PARENTS TO BE WARY OF RAPISTS IN THE STATE

LAGOS State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye has cautioned parents to be wary of rampant of attacks by rapists  on minors across the state.

The Attorney-General, AG, who expressed deep worry over the act, disclosed that the act has reached an alarming rate where over  427 cases had been officially reported last year alone.

The AG disclosed that for such figure to be officially reported calls for worry in spite of the fact that majority of the victims or their parents hid such incidence from the public to avoid embarrassment.

FASHOLA DECRIES FG’S INTERFERENCE IN LAGOS POWER PROJECT

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has faulted the interference of the Federal Government in the independent power project (IPP) initiated by his predecessor, Senator Bola Tinubu.

Fashola, who expressed the disappointment at the distinguished visitors’ programme of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in Abuja, lamented that the project would have brought major economic development to the state if it had not been aborted.
He explained that the Tinubu administration entered into a Power Purchase Agreement with Enron Nigeria Power Holding Ltd “to build the first independent power project undertaken by any state in the federation.” 

LAGOS URGES COURT TO DISMISS SUIT ON LEKKI-IKOYI BRIDGE TOLL

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday asked a Federal High Court (FHC) to dismiss a suit challenging its purported plan to introduce a N500 toll for motorists using the new Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge.

Mr Olarewanju Akinsola, Counsel to the government, told Justice Saliu Saidu of the FHC in Lagos that the suit was premature and denied allegations that N500 had been fixed as toll to be collected.

In his preliminary objection and counter affidavit filed before the court, Akinsola noted that the project was yet to be completed and handed over to the State Government.

LASG GIVES OWNERS OF ABANDONED VEHICLES 3 DAYS TO REMOVE THEM

LAGOS State Government yesterday gave owners of abandoned vehicles in the state a three-day ultimatum to remove them or have them impounded.

The government warned that from Monday, January 28, 2013, it would commence removal of all abandoned vehicles on the roads and streets.

According to Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, owners of such vehicles especially in Surulere, Mainland, Mushin, Agege, and other Local Governments, should remove their vehicles immediately as members of the Committee on Abandoned and Disused vehicles would commence a state wide removal of abandoned vehicles.
